Are You a Giver?
You may be involved with giving on an individual level, but with a little planning, you are in a perfect position to offer, time, money or resources through your construction company.
Contractors that give through their companies say that giving back:
· feels good,
· makes their communities better and stronger,
· has translated into attracting a different type of client or trade partner,
· has helped recruit higher performance staff
· lets people know they care about their community, and
· allows them to involve team members, subcontractors, and trade partners in a common goal, which has built group cohesion and retention.
The following are some “giving back” ideas that people just like you are doing in the industry:
Hockey Helps the Homeless – $225,000 was raised in total this year by people just like you helping 360 children struggling with homelessness.
Stocking Stuffers for Seniors – people just like you helped 4,000 seniors in the Edmonton area, and over 17,000 across Western Canada in partnership with approximately 90 senior groups through this grassroots program.
Sponsoring Local Youth Teams-people just like you are sponsoring thousands of teams all across the United States and Canada to show their commitment to youth in their communities.
Raising Money for Local Food Banks – people just like you are teaming up with other local businesses in helping the hungry in their communities.
Using Resources to Help Disabled Children and Vets Live Better-people just like you are doing some amazing things to help children and veterans have a better quality of life by providing adaptations for everyday living.
Feeding the Homeless at Thanksgiving-this past year, over 700 homeless people were fed at Thanksgiving and given hats and mittens by people just like you who teamed up with some local companies to help the less fortunate in their communities.
On your website or a social media platform, let others know, in a subtle way, that your company gives back to your community. It shows that you and your company not only want to build “things” but also want to build a great community. Maybe some of these acts will spark an idea for you and your company!
